About the role
Our client, focused on the National Security of Australia, is seeking a highly skilled Information and Cyber Security Specialist to join their team on a 12 month contract (2 x 12 month extensions available) in their Canberra location.
In this role, you will undertake complex technical assessment activities, provide detailed technical, operational, professional, and procedural advice, and work within a framework of legislation and established industry principles. You will represent the branch to the government organisations' security stakeholders, ensuring the TS ICT Authorisation Framework is applied consistently. Additionally, you will liaise with multiple projects and capability stakeholders to assist in the design and documentation of ICT system security controls, develop assessment briefs and presentations for senior decision-makers, and contribute to the enhancement of ICT security policy and documentation. This role requires some travel, including interstate travel.
The successful candidate The successful candidate will be IRAP certified and have at least 2 years of experience as a security specialist working across security architecture, security and risk management, communication and network security, or security operations domains. You will have experience ensuring technical systems adhere to Essential Eight, ISM, and PSPF frameworks, and possess the ability to communicate complex technical systems to non-technical audiences. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as is a proven record of building, managing, and enhancing relationships with stakeholders. Experience developing, managing, and implementing SOPs and procedures in support of security accreditation frameworks is also required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake complex technical assessment activities in information and cyber security.
- Conduct objective systematic analysis and draw accurate conclusions based on evidence.
- Provide detailed technical, operational, professional, and procedural advice in relation to complex information and cyber security activities, including software development, system administration, incident response, cyber forensics, specialist electronics and engineering, mathematics, and vulnerability analysis and research.
- Work within a framework of legislation, established industry principles, work practices, and procedures in accordance with ASD’s mission and business objectives.
- Liaise with multiple projects and capability stakeholders to assist in the design and documentation of ICT system security controls.
- Identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop a clear understanding of the methodology and practices to achieve outcomes.
- Define the scope of the assessment, assess the security controls, and produce security assessment reports in accordance with ISM and PSPF standards.
- Develop assessment briefs and presentations for senior decision-makers to support capability’s authorisation to operate.
