The Role:
As a FinOps Analyst, you will play a crucial role in optimising our cloud financial operations and ensuring cost efficiency across our cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with various teams, including architecture, finance, engineering, and operations, to provide insights, forecasts, and recommendations that drive financial accountability and performance.
Skills and Experience Required:
• Proven experience in managing AWS financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization.
• Highly proficient in using AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and AWS Cost and Usage Reports.
• Deep understanding of AWS pricing models, including Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and Spot Instances.
• Extensive experience with AWS services, including Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, S3, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, Glue, Lambda, and Kinesis. Ability to interact with these services to obtain and analyze data.
• Proficiency in scripting/coding to retrieve, manipulate, and collate platform data, automate logic and queries, and deploy changes via pipelines. Understanding of how these skills apply to cloud services, tagging, and their functions.
• Strong skills in cloud cost management, monitoring, reporting, and optimization. Ability to investigate, identify, and resolve/recommend cost activities using FinOps practices and processes.
• Ability to generate and analyze financial reports within AWS to provide insights and recommendations for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Experience working with cross functional teams, including but not limited to engineering, operations, and finance teams to align AWS usage with business objectives and financial goals.
• Knowledge of industry best practices for FinOps, including cost allocation, chargeback/showback, and AWS financial governance.
Location and Contract Term: This role is based in Melbourne. 12 month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options pending budget and delegate approval.
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens. A Baseline security clearance is required.
