The Role:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Junior Network Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an emerging professional to contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of network systems critical to government operations. The successful candidate will receive mentorship and guidance from senior engineers, while playing a key role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of network infrastructure.

Location and Contract Term: This role is based in ACT. 12 month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options pending budget and delegate approval.
Security Requirements: Applicants must be Australian Citizens. A NV2 security clearance is required.

Key duties and responsibilities
- Network Support and Maintenance: Assist in the monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems.
- Configuration and Installation: Support the configuration and deployment of network devices and systems, ensuring compliance with security protocols and government standards.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Diagnosing and resolving network issues, and escalating complex problems to senior team members when necessary.
- Documentation: Assist in maintaining network documentation and ensuring all changes and updates are properly recorded.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior network engineers and other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of network services.
- Security: Adhere to established security protocols and assist in implementing measures to safeguard the network from unauthorized access or attacks.
- Teamwork: Work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment and manage relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Knowledge of basic networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Exposure to Cisco networking equipment or other vendor technologies.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and network management systems.
- Previous experience in government or highly regulated enterprise environments.
