Job details
The role of the Senior Project Manager is to manage the end-to-end delivery of large systems delivery projects that are part of the Agencies modernisation agenda. The Senior Project Manager will create and manage detailed, integrated project plans to plan and track project delivery, lead and manage the technical scope and design, align dependencies and deliverables and minimise risk. The position informs the appropriate Agency Governance by providing timely updates on the project and escalate dependencies, risks and issues with appropriate mitigation strategy.
Key duties and responsibilities
This role will require a Senior Project Manager with technical experience in managing the delivery of complex systems, solutions and modernisation, enhancement and transformation projects with many complex dependencies. The Senior Project Manager role will include (but not be limited to) responsibility for the following
Align to the Agencies governance and project delivery processes, working in and adapting both waterfall and agile methodologies as required for successful and efficient delivery.
Technical skills:
Security Required: Must have a Baseline Security Clearance required
Location - ACT, NSW, QLD, and Hybrid

Key duties and responsibilities
This role will require a Senior Project Manager with technical experience in managing the delivery of complex systems, solutions and modernisation, enhancement and transformation projects with many complex dependencies. The Senior Project Manager role will include (but not be limited to) responsibility for the following
- End to end management and delivery of technical projects from the requirements, through design, build, testing and implementation and handing over to the operations team.
- Exceptional stakeholder management across different levels internally and externally in a multi-vendor environment
- Strong technical leadership and management to understand, analyse and critique the technical aspects of the solution being delivered, clearly communicate risks and issues and represent constraints and dependencies in the project delivery timelines and critical path.
- Identify and communicate impact of dependencies on wider technology roadmap.
Align to the Agencies governance and project delivery processes, working in and adapting both waterfall and agile methodologies as required for successful and efficient delivery.
Technical skills:
- Technical delivery of large mission critical systems.
- Implementation of large Oracle database solutions
- Delivering complete solution - software & systems development, technical products, services & solutions, infrastructure and operations.
- Working in a complex, technical, multi-vendor environment with experience of management and leading the delivery across all parties
- Complex dependency management - identifying, mapping and managing key project dependencies, liaising and communicating with any dependent projects across the Agency on project delivery status such as slippage, risks/issues etc.
- Working in multi cloud environments for example Azure, OCI, AWS etc.
- Detailed understanding, experience and leadership of projects following the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Exceptional technical project management abilities.
- Strong governance focus and stakeholder management, communication and guiding at senior exec level.
- Superior understanding & consistent application of project management competencies including scope, time, cost, quality, HR, communications, cost, risk, procurement and integration.
- Strong conceptual abilities coupled with a strong knowledge of the organisation's business requirements.
- Effective leadership and people management skills coupled with skills in communicating with end users.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
- Sound understanding of the Agency’s project governance framework.
- High level interpersonal, issue resolution and change management skills.
