Role Overview: A Federal Government Department is seeking a Construction Security Manager for an extensive long-term construction project in Canberra. The primary responsibilities include managing the physical, personnel, and information security requirements. Responsibilities include establishing and managing robust security protocols, adhering to security requirements and the construction security plan, and overseeing security governance, policies, and procedures. Additionally, the role entails producing regular reports and actively participating in and communicating with stakeholders.

The role may require domestic and international travel from time to time.

Role Overview: A Federal Government Department is seeking a Construction Security Manager for an extensive long-term construction project in Canberra. The primary responsibilities include managing the physical, personnel, and information security requirements. Responsibilities include establishing and managing robust security protocols, adhering to security requirements and the construction security plan, and overseeing security governance, policies, and procedures. Additionally, the role entails producing regular reports and actively participating in and communicating with stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the construction security management function on specific projects – this includes security management planning, coordination, delivery and capturing lessons learned, ensuring project effort/activities/outcomes align with an agreed construction security management plan.
- Manage security governance, policies and procedures, and undertaking regular auditing.
- Ability to facilitate security meetings and resolve issues, and report on matters.
- Liaison with different groups of internal and external stakeholders, including Government, and regulatory authorities.
- Risk management and ability to recommend effective risk treatments.
- Oversee construction security operations, review plans and attend site visits.
- Create security strategies and implement security procedures.
- Supervise security personnel.
- Protect assets, personnel, and information.
- Ensure security requirements are fully scoped and met during project delivery, working closely with the project team / builder.
- Undertake analysis of suppliers, markets, products and service categories to inform procurement planning.
- Provide advice and support to tender processes and technical evaluations.
- Delivery of presentations and produce high level written reports.
- Prepare project and financial documentation to inform governance committees.
- Develop and review safe work method statements.
The role may require domestic and international travel from time to time.
The Successful Candidate:
- Experience managing security requirements on a construction site.
- An understanding of Government Security requirements.
- Project management.
- Contract, procurement and financial management.
- Analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual or within a team with minimal supervision.
- Maintain a strong network of security counterparts and work collaboratively.
- Strong task prioritisation and resource management skills.
- An understanding of, and commitment to, protective security policies and practices.
- Work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- A thorough understanding of, and experience in ensuring compliance with, the PSPF
