Role: Infrastructure & Automation Lead
Location: This role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 1 July 2025-30June 2025 + 3x12 month extension available.

About the Client:
Our client is responsible for national security operations and plays a crucial role in safeguarding the country's interests. The department also manages strategic policy, intelligence, and international relations, working closely with allies to maintain regional stability. This departments mission is to advise on its digital network integration efforts to maximise interoperability across Land, Joint and Coalition interface boundaries and to meet critical information exchange requirements. The intent is to ensure that investments are integrated to maximise the operational functions of individual projects.

About the role/ Experience required:
- Design, build, and administer the Production and Development/Test environments of Deployable Local Area Networks and Datacenter networks, using the following technologies:
- Windows Server 2008 R2 (and later)
- SharePoint 2010 (and later)
- VMWare 6.5 (and later)
- Exchange 2010 (and later)
- SQL Server 2008 (and later)
- SCCM / MDT
- Software Defined Networking – VMware NSX
- Hyperconverged Infrastructure – Nutanix
- Red Hat Linux 7.4 (and later)
- Windows Server 2008 R2 (and later)
- Design and implement Automation & Orchestration toolsets in alignment with DEVOPS practices, including technologies such as:
- PowerShell/PowerCLI
- Ansible
- PowerShell/PowerCLI
- Install, configure, and administer military software applications (including Windows and Linux-based servers and applications).
- Install and configure shared storage devices, such as NETAPP, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, such as Nutanix.
- Design, install, and manage the security architecture of Datacenter and Local Area Networks, using the following technologies:
- ForeScout
- Splunk
- McAfee
- Cisco networking (routing/switching/firewall)
- VMware Virtualisation
- Software Defined Networking – VMware NSX
- ForeScout
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 technical support to exercises for role-specific technologies and systems.
- Review, advise, and contribute to the design of application or system integrated solutions for Land Network systems, and use the outcomes to inform of technical readiness and capability options.
- Develop system design documentation, and maintain configuration control of the SOE environment, documentation, and the various implementations on the Test and Development and Production Mission Command environments.
- Support innovation activities to demonstrate technology (such as cross-domain solutions or virtual reality platforms) integration on modern Command and Control systems.
- Will develop a deep and fundamental understanding of the land combat system and its design considerations;
- Develop a detailed understanding of the integration of sub-components into capabilities;
- Lead development of the LCS Design within their technical specialisation;
- Record and share information regarding engagements to enable a collaborative approach across SMEs and the integration/technical SME staff to achieve digital integration requirements;
- Develop an understanding of concepts or a design within the LCS and provide detailed advice on the integration requirements from a digital integration perspective (as opposed to physical integration);
- Long term engagement
