About the role:
As a Java Developer, you will be responsible for developing Java-based enhancements, database interactions, and microservice APIs that support enterprise applications. You will play a key role in building scalable and secure back-end systems, integrating with front-end components, and ensuring the reliability and performance of solutions. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile environment to deliver business-critical applications.

This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, agile environment to deliver business-critical applications.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Developing scalable and efficient Java enhancements for back-end systems.
- Designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices using frameworks like Spring Boot and Java EE.
- Collaborating with front-end developers to integrate front-end and back-end components seamlessly.
- Managing containerized applications on platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes.
- Handling database operations, including both relational (DB2) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
- Contributing to agile development processes, including sprints, backlog refinement, and stand-ups.
- Implementing secure coding practices to ensure the stability and security of applications.
- Participating in problem-solving and issue resolution related to technical challenges.
- Security Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain baseline or NV-1 government security clearance.
- Citizenship: Must be an Australian citizen to be eligible for this role.
- Technical Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Java development.
- Proficiency with Red Hat, OpenShift, and container orchestration technologies.
- Strong experience with API development and integration tools, including APIConnect and NestJS.
- Expertise in databases (DB2, MongoDB) and application servers (Tomcat).
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as Angular.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience working within government or public sector environments.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and back-end security protocols.
- Advanced problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across diverse teams.
