Our Large Federal Government client are seeking a Machine Analytics Engineers who will deploy, configure and sustain systems which support advanced analytics and machine learning workflows. They will work under general direction from, and balancing the requirements of, the data science end-users, other engineers and system administrators, all within a complex security environment.
DevOps skills and experience are essential, and specific experience working with data scientists is definitely an advantage. Under general direction the engineer will build, accredit and sustain end-user-facing solutions for advanced analysis and machine learning utilising many of AGO’s unique data sources. They will work with data scientists and data analysts with less technical knowledge as well as dedicated DevOps professionals, and must be able to bridge this communication gap effectively.

Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract terms: 12 months with extension options of 2 x 12 months exercised at the departments discretion and suppliers acceptance.
SFIA security level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered.

- Experience in delivering ICT systems using the DevOps methodology
- Demonstrated knowledge in the application and integration of machine learning approaches
- Demonstrated knowledge of geospatial analysis
Major Responsibilities:
- Work with the Machine Analytics Technical Manager, data scientists, project managers, business analysts and senior customers on the design of integrated machine analytics solutions that support organisational outcomes.
- Contributes to the development of solution architectures to support data analysis and exploitation. Identifies and evaluates alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost, performance and scalability. Participates in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work.
- Takes technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of software/analytic system development and implementation, delivering a machine learning environment for data scientists to exploit and analyse large data sets.
- Identify system interdependencies and liaise with other system stakeholders to resolve conflict and coordinate integrated solutions.
