Our client is a leading agency within the Defence portfolio, dedicated to defending Australia against global threats and advancing national interests. They provide foreign signals intelligence, cyber security, and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government.
About the Role
As a Radio Frequency (RF) Technologist, you will work across various disciplines including RF hardware design, software configuration, testing, and systems engineering documentation. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Designing, integrating, testing, and documenting engineering subsystems.
• Planning, managing, executing, and reporting test procedures using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Producing technical documentation.
• Undertaking testing and fault finding using electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analysers, spectrum analysers) of RF communications systems and components.
• Assisting in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures.
• Performing design reviews with guidance.
The Successful Candidate
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:
Essential:
• Design system components using appropriate modelling techniques, following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns, and methodology.
• Investigate and resolve system-wide fault conditions using a wide range of diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Design detailed functional test cases and scripts, covering various scenarios and boundary values.
Desirable:
• Experience in Satellite communication.
• Electrical Trade certificate.
• Application of ARPANSA RF standards.
• Experience in RFoIP technologies.
What is on Offer
Location: The role is based in Canberra ACT.
Contract terms: 12 months from commencement date, plus 2x 12 month extensions
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 4.
Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered. An OSA (Organisational Suitability Assessment) will be required for this position.
