About the Client
Our client provides advice to inform budget decision-making; manages the principal financial assets and liabilities, identifies opportunities for economic reform & monitors and forecasts the economy, advises on performance and financial management policies and supports the development of policy advice and implementation of programs focused on energy, climate-change mitigation and adaptation, and the transformation to a new low-cost, clean-energy economy.
About The Role:
The Senior Advisor will provide expert advice, practical and matter management support on a broad range of information access matters on a whole government basis. You will be delivering outcomes in a time sensitive environment and bring high-level commitment and expertise to making significant contributions to the management of information access, commercial transactions, legislative and other government legal matters.
The Successful candidate should have extensive knowledge of Standing Order (SO52) & Public Access Act 2009 (GIPA Act)

Key Responsibilities
- Provide general, practical and matter management support, with a potentially broad remit.
- Capacity to manage and coordinate response to calls for the production of documents under Standing Order 52 (SO52) or other investigative processes authorised under law.
- Capacity to decide information access applications under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act), including the drafting of administrative decisions, ensuring that statutory deadlines are met.
- Capacity to support strategic projects.
- Provide advice and solutions on information access matters.
- Undertake legal research and provide high quality timely advice on various issues.
- Contribute to the development of precedents and knowledge materials.
- Liaise with the Crown Solicitor’s Office as necessary to obtain specialist advice and manage interaction between the CSO and key stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships, with agencies and with other external stakeholders.
- At the request of the Deputy General Counsel, assist in delivery of outcomes within the Information Access & Transactions team.
