Seeking a Senior Gateway and Network Engineer to oversee managing and resolving complex technical incidents and problems within the ICT environment,
Requirements
The Senior Gateway and Network Engineer will oversee managing and resolving complex technical incidents and problems within the ICT environment, as well as giving technical advice to senior leadership. The role will offer technical ability in the management of gateway firewalls, protocols, including boarder gateway protocol (BGP), routing, software-defined (SD) wide area network (WAN), zero trust network architecture, cloud networking and wireless technologies.
The ideal candidate will have experience with both on premises and cloud technology and will work across teams with other senior or skilled engineers in network, cloud and cyber. Having skills or experience across these areas will be highly advantageous. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the installation and configuration of network hardware and software for the local area network (LAN) and undertake analysis of network utilisation for performance and capacity. The candidate will contribute to gateway and network related projects and be involved in project resourcing planning and requirements gather.
Essential criteria
Initial contract duration - 9 months through to EOFY + 2 x 12 Months extensions
Location of work and Working arrangements- Canberra - Full time, 5 days a week is expected onsite
Security clearance - Must have Baseline

Essential criteria
- Demonstrated capability to identify, coordinate and resolve complex technical incidents and problems within ICT Government secure internet gateway and network technologies. Able to manage risks and issues, balance multiple competing priorities and communicate to executive.
- A working knowledge of the Information Security Manual (ISM), the Protective Security Framework Policy (PSFP), and other International Standards (ISO’s). A background in system infrastructure support and delivery of; end user compute, cloud, network and security solutions. Strong background in information security technologies
- Experience in communicating solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in complex gateway and network technologies. Ability understands complex gateway and network principles, protocols, routing and technologies. Demonstrated experience in operating and sustaining secure internet gateway and network in Government ICT environment.
- Experience in a range of vendor technologies, both hardware and software solutions. Across the latest gateway and network technology trends and able to apply best practice knowledge to resolve incidents, implement changes and deliver ICT projects.
- Confidently presents messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner. Focuses on key points and uses appropriate, unambiguous language. Shows initiative and proactively steps in and does what is required. Commits energy and drive to see that goals are achieved.
