In-depth knowledge of Work Health and Safety laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance and effective risk management.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on WHS risks and issues to enable informed decision-making by management, ensuring consistent application of WHS policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with legislation.
- Oversee incident management processes, ensuring timely reporting, investigation, and resolution of workplace incidents.
- Identify and mitigate workplace risks through regular safety audits and assessments, while fostering a high-performance WHS culture focused on risk awareness and safe work practices.
- Develop and manage return-to-work programs that support injured employees while maintaining operational continuity.
- Continuously enhance WHS management systems in collaboration with operations, employees, and key stakeholders to address emerging needs.
- Monitor and report on compliance with WHS legislation and internal policies, recommending improvements as needed.
- Facilitate WHS training programs to ensure all staff understand health and safety policies and practices, while also providing access to wellbeing initiatives and training.
- Support the implementation of the Health, Safety & Wellbeing roadmap and related initiatives.
The successful candidate:
- Navigating and ensuring compliance with evolving Work Health and Safety legislation, requiring constant monitoring and adaptation to new regulations.
- Effectively managing workplace incidents while fostering a culture of safety, requiring timely response, thorough investigation, and proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Achieving consistent engagement and participation from all staff in WHS training and wellbeing initiatives, especially in diverse work environments with varying levels of awareness and commitment to safety practices.
- Experience in managing workplace incidents, including investigation techniques, reporting protocols, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Proficiency in conducting safety audits and risk assessments, with the ability to identify hazards and develop strategies for risk reduction.
- Knowledge of best practices in return-to-work strategies, including rehabilitation processes and support for injured employees.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees, management, and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative approach to health and safety.
Essential requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
