About the Role
Our client, focused on the National Security of Australia, is seeking an experienced Product Manager for their team based in Canberra. The contract is available for 12 months with two 12 month extension options.
As a Product Manager, you will navigate complex stakeholder relationships, comply with regulations and laws, and work in a transparent and accountable environment. You will be concerned with the product's long-term success and viability, and will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the product meets both customer needs and business goals. You will also have to be creative and resourceful in finding ways to modernise and innovate legacy systems.
The role sits within the Product Delivery Directorate, which is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality products that meet customer needs.
The Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and have at least three years of relevant Product Management experience. They will have the ability to create product roadmaps, define product vision, and align product strategy with business goals and customer needs. They will be adept at prioritising tasks and features based on value and impact, and managing the product backlog effectively. A demonstrated understanding of the technical aspects of product development, including software development, software architecture, and infrastructure, is essential.
Professional certification in Product Management or aligned roles, such as Certified Product Manager (CPM) by AIPMM, Product Manager Certification (PMC) by Product School, or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO I), is highly desirable. Proficiency in working with a range of Product Management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, or similar for product planning and collaboration) and familiarity with government processes, policies, and regulatory requirements will be advantageous.
