We are on the hunt for Java Developers who hold a TSPV clearance in Canberra or Sydney! As the Java developer, you with be Providing technical solutions that are best-practice, fit-for-purpose, and enhance the end-user experience.

Location: This role is a Canberra, ACT or Sydney, NSW based role.
Contract terms: 12 months with 2x 12 month extensions.
Security Requirements: Candidates require an active TSPV clearance, (or have had one downgraded in the past 12 months) to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates will need to be willing to undergo pre-employment checks which may include, ID and work rights, security clearance verification, and any other client requested checks.
SFIA level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes at a SFIA Level of Responsibility 4 or 5 in Programming (PROG)

Major Responsibilities
- • Backend Java Development
- • Solution design and dev environment setup
- • Be responsible for building, deploying and testing code changes (primarily in Java)
- • Plan and develop code in a maintainable and sustainable manner in accordance with organisational standards and industry best practice while maintaining the security of systems.
- • Work in a diverse team environment, sharing outcomes and experience with others.
- • Ensure that all development is in line with standard engineering and technical approaches employed by the Department, and that risks associated with deployment are adequately understood and mitigated.
- • A proven ability to craft technical documentation and effectively collaborate using a variety of tools to ensure seamless tracking and communication.
- • Capability to solve complex technical problems with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- • Work collaboratively with teams of technology specialists, software developers, security professionals and systems administrators.
Skills and Experience
- • IT-related degree (e.g. Bachelor of Computer Science or Bachelor of IT) or 3+ years of relevant software development experience
- • Experience querying with Elastic search and/or Lucene
- • Strong problem-solving skills.
- • Knowledge and experience with software development practices and an aptitude for software configuration and maintenance.
- • A demonstrated ability to develop technical documentation and track work in collaboration tools.
- • Experience with source control tooling.
- • The ability to strategically analyse technical requirements and recommend direction
- • Proven ability to balance competing priorities and exercise sound judgement
- • Resilience and personal accountability
